#1 What is Amber and is all Amber the same?
#2 Why Baltic Amber for your Child’s Teething Jewelry?
Amber from the Baltic regions or Succinite contains the highest concentration of succinic acid of any amber in the world. Anywhere from 3-8%. Succinic acid, which is a natural part of our body’s make-up, has many therapeutic benefits and can help both you and your baby have happier days and more restful nights even while traversing the teething months and years.
#3 How Does it Do it?
Amber teething necklaces and bracelets are made to wear, not to chew!
#4 Are they Effective?
Here is where things get tricky. Not everything works for everyone. When my children were teething age, I had never heard of Amber Teething Jewelry. We used a lot of pharmaceutical and chemical remedies, that may or may not have really addressed the symptoms. Would I have liked to have known about a natural alternative? You bet. I now have grandchildren, and my daughter swears by Amber.
While scientists continue to debate the mechanism behind amber’s mysterious effects and attempt to explain how wearing amber on the skin can have a soothing and calming effect on teething babies or control the pain of rheumatism, aching muscles and joint pain for adults, many do concede that they do indeed work.
One theory is based on findings that show that amber is electromagnetically active and, therefore, charged with a significant amount of organic energy. Its special attribute is electronegativity. Wearing amber produces negative ionization on the skin’s surface. This, in turn, has a positive influence on the human body. The negative ions assist in the prevention of illness. These health-promoting effects apply to babies, children and adults alike.
Allopathic medicine also recognizes Amber's anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties. Pharmacists and doctors have long known about the healing properties of amber that include calmative, analgesic, antispasmodic, expectorant, and febrifuge (anti-fever) functions.
#5 Is Amber Jewelry Safe for My Baby?
Just like any jewelry, there is the possibility that it may break if enough force is used. However, we do our best to ensure our products are as safe as possible, and it is unlikely that your baby will have the strength to break it. If the necklace or bracelet should break, the beads are knotted individually to prevent scattering, this also ensures only one bead can fall off.
The clasp should always be plastic, never metal or sterling silver. The plastic pop clasp is the safest option because it will pop open in the event of too much pressure. Another reason to have a plastic pop clasp is to avoid allergic reactions, many babies have sensitivity to different types of metals.
When shopping for Amber teething products, please remember these key points:
- Remember to look for genuine Baltic Amber products (beware of Baltic Amber Products that tout that they are made in the USA, something doesn’t add up).
- Purchase only Necklaces made with Plastic Safety Pop Clasps. Please never use Amber Teething necklaces with a Screw clasp closure as these are potentially dangerous. Pop clasps are made to release when pressure is applied and can be re-snapped close.
- Amber Teething Jewelry should fit properly, it is meant to fit snugly but never tight. The length of the necklace and bracelets is usually short, to prevent them from easily catching on things. It is worn on the skin under baby’s clothing.
- Our own Amber Products, "Nature’s Beads of Love" have been tested for both authenticity and safety.
